Salvatorins from around Australia have gathered at their annual retreat in St John of God Retreat Centre in Shearwater. The retreat started on Monday 14th June and will conclude on Friday 18th June 2010.
The Retreat Master Fr Andrew Drogos, also a Salvatorian, has traveled all the way from Nitra in Slovakia where he has been since 2003. Nitra is connected with the beginnings of Christianity in Eastern Europe which goes back to the 9th Century.
Fr Andrew was ordained in 1990 and since his ordinations has been involved in parish pastoral work and has also served as a Novice Master for three years. Soon after his ordinations he has been drown into conducting parish retreats and later on since 1996 has preached several retreats for sisters and for priests.
His conferences are very inspiring and challenging going deep into the origins of one’s vocation and exploring the mining of being a disciple of Jesus. They are scripture based and the reflection continues during a private meditation time which follows. The focal points of each day are our celebration of the Eucharist and a Holy Hour in the evening.
It is also for us a special time to get together as a community especially as we celebrate our founder’s, Fr Francis’ Jordan birthday.
