I had a great spiritual day at the 2016 Australian Salvatorian East Coast Reflection Day on Sat 23rd April at Sacred Heart Church, Mona Vale. Fr Greg Skulski SDS led a great day of spiritual reflection, prayer, and discussion.
The day provided a great platform to learn more about the 3 different vocations of marriage, religious life, and single life. Fr Greg has a warm and friendly nature, which made what can be a daunting process a lot easier to dive into and discuss openly.
He openly shared his journey to the priesthood with his ups and downs, which made the vocation to religious life seem less of a distant and unreachable vocation. He broke the day up into bit size pieces with a balance of prayer, Q & A, table tennis, video clips, and input. We also had a great lunch with the Salvatorian priests from Pittwater Parish. I learnt that the best way to find the vocation that suits you is to build your faith in God and let the rest flow from that. I left the reflection day with a greater understanding of the 3 vocations and got a special insight into the life of a priest.
The next East Coast Reflection Day run by Fr Greg will be in November at Pymble Parish. It will be great to come together with other young people to pray together, eat together, share our faith together, reflect together, and listen to each other’s life journey. I can reiterate that these days aren’t just for young men discerning to become a Salvatorian priest, but are for any young man looking to deepen their faith in God and learn more about the different vocations.
