On Monday 27th of June 2011 Salvatorian community gathered for the celebration of 50 years of service in Australia.
Australian community of Salvatorians was joined by Salvatorian members from other parts of the world:
Fr Bronislaw Jakubiec (General Consultor from Rome), Fr Piotr Filas (Provincial of the Polish Province), Fr Alex McAllister (Provincial of the British Province), Fr David Bergner (Provincial of the American Province), Fr Boguslaw Loska (Vice provincial of the Polish Province), Fr Roman Slupek (Consultor of the Polish Province), Fr Chris Kowalczyk (Superior of the Eat Asian Mission Vicariate), Fr Dominic Su (Superior of the China Mission Vicariate) and other Salvatorians who came to join us for this celebration.
The solemn Eucharist was presided by Bishop Donald Sproxton (Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Perth) together with Bishop Gerard Holohan (Diocese of Bunbury), Bishop Justin Bianchini (Diocese of Geraldton), 29 Salvatorians and around 50 diocesan and religious priests.
Also present were superiors of many male and female religious orders, Lay Salvatorian, Salvatorian Collaborators, Principals of Catholic Schools and representatives of the Parish Councils of our parishes as well as many parishioners.
The homily was proclaimed by Fr Franciszek Kot SDS who shared with us a bit of the history of the Salvatorians and expressed a strong call for prayer for vocations to priesthood and religious life.
After the Eucharist all invited guests went to General Sikorski’s Polish Club in Bellevue to continue the celebration at a dinner.
The Golden Jubilee of the Salvatorians is connected with Golden Jubilee of St Anthony’s Parish in Greenmount, the first Salvatorian parish in Australia. A solemn Eucharist was celebrated on the 26th of June 2011. Archbishop of Perth Barry James Hickey presided at this Eucharist and was joined by our distinguished Salvatorian guests and other Salvatorians who worked in this parish. During the celebration Archbishop consecrated a new stone altar and blessed the renovated sanctuary. A joyful morning tea followed the celebration of the parish Golden Jubilee.
